hi, I just tried to leave a comment with some japanese text in it, but when it posted all the japanese characters were changed to question marks. when did this change occur? seems kind of counter-intuitive to block japanese on a japanese-themed image board

This was unfortunately done in response to spambots and other bad actors using Unicode characters to get around our spam filters.

It is a bother when trying to explain jokes, puns, nuances, etc. But it's usually possible to do it with romaji if needed.
